    Kioku is a tracker for anime, manga, light novels and visual novels that runs on your own computer. It is made first for Windows and works on macOS and Linux too. Your library lives in a database on your computer, syncs with AniList, MyAnimeList, AniDB, Kitsu, MangaBaka, Shikimori, Simkl, Bangumi and VNDB, sends to Trakt, plays your episodes in mpv or follows the player you already use, reads your manga and light novels, and lets you watch together with friends. Kioku speaks English, Slovak and Czech.

    New in 2.125.0

    • Settings go between your devices one by one: a device on an older Kioku that cannot take one setting still takes all the others, two settings of one group changed on two devices both stay, and taking a title off the week plan reaches your other devices.
    • The channels a device sends notifications to stay on that device, and devices still on an older Kioku keep theirs. Update every device: one on a version before this one stops taking settings when it meets one it does not know.
    • Home's random pick, "fits a weekend" and the Planning deck offer only titles that are out, and the deck says when one is not yet released. The pick stays when you come back from a title.
    • The "season starts" notification opens the right season, Up next says how many more tagged titles there are, and the Friday weekend picks change from week to week.
    • The library sorts by length and understands "upcoming" and "out", and a title's date added is when you put it on your AniList list.
    • Discarding a change waiting to go to AniList takes it back, a failed Apply says so instead of staying on "Syncing", an outage brings one message instead of one every half hour, and a title AniList refuses is not sent again on every sync.
    • The settings search finds every notification rule and the Comfort page, the phone's choices show only on a phone, and signing out your other devices or unpairing a phone asks first.

    Windows 10 and 11 Kioku-2.125.0-windows.zip Unzip it and double-click Kioku.exe. Kioku is not code signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. Kioku adds itself to the Start menu.
    macOS 12 and later Kioku-2.125.0-macos.zip Move Kioku to Applications and open it. It is not notarized, so the first time open System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
    Linux x64 and arm64 Kioku-2.125.0-linux-x64.tar.gz, Kioku-2.125.0-linux-arm64.tar.gz Extract and run ./kioku. Kioku adds itself to the application menu.
    Browser extension Kioku-2.125.0-extension-chromium.zip, Kioku-2.125.0-extension-firefox.zip Chromium-based browsers: unzip, open the extensions page, turn on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. Firefox: about:debugging > This Firefox > Load Temporary Add-on (Developer Edition and Nightly can keep it for good).

    SHA256SUMS lists the checksums of every file. Kioku opens in a window of its own (WebView2 on Windows; on Linux WebKitGTK, or a Chromium-based browser's app window with NVIDIA graphics or without WebKitGTK; the default browser as a last resort). To connect AniList, open Services, choose Connect on AniList and approve: nothing else to set up. The first sync is always a preview that changes nothing until you apply it.

    To play episodes in Kioku's own player, install mpv; or keep the player you have and let Kioku follow it. Everything else Kioku needs comes with it or installs itself.
