2026-10-28 09:04:15 +00:00 | 45 commits to main since this releaseKioku is a tracker for anime, manga, light novels and visual novels that runs on your own computer. It is made first for Windows and works on macOS and Linux too. Your library lives in a database on your computer, syncs with AniList, MyAnimeList, AniDB, Kitsu, MangaBaka, Shikimori, Simkl, Bangumi and VNDB, sends to Trakt, plays your episodes in mpv or follows the player you already use, reads your manga and light novels, and lets you watch together with friends. Kioku speaks English, Slovak and Czech.

- Restoring a backup keeps what belongs to this computer. A login goes only to the service it was saved for (a backup from another computer could hand one service another's login); a service that has none asks you to log in again. Phones, browser extensions and sign-ins you took back stay out. Your Kioku account's rankings, tiers and extras win where they differ from the backup's, with what you picked since the restore added once; a pick made just before the backup no longer counts twice. A restore that fails says so in Settings > Data, and the backup made before a restore is copied to your backup folder too.
- Rank no longer asks you to pick between a show and its own film or seasons while other titles are near, and titles sharing a place in your order show as =1.
- A title's episode list is as long as the title when its length is known: extra episodes Kitsu counts are no longer shown as out after the last one, here and on the website (update your Kioku server for that).
- Stats > Calendar's year of activity counts the episodes you mark on AniList, so it matches the months above it.
- Every switch in Settings explains itself behind a tap.
- On a phone: the open tab of a title or of the library scrolls into view, Home's Up next card keeps its remove button in its corner, the season's buttons sit in one row, franchise cards say how many titles are still to come or were cancelled, and pictures from other sites that do not load leave no broken picture behind.
- Kioku's own library file chosen in Import a list says to import it as a library file.

It opens the same library as the archive. Inside it the window is always WebKitGTK and Kioku's own player cannot reach mpv (episodes open in your default player); a folder outside Videos, Downloads and Kioku's own needsflatpak override --user --filesystem=<folder> space.toxik.Kioku.Browser extension Kioku-2.154.0-extension-chromium.zip,Kioku-2.154.0-extension-firefox.zipChromium-based browsers: unzip, open the extensions page, turn on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. ItsREADME.mdcovers Nginx Proxy Manager, the firewall, updates and backups.SHA256SUMSlists the checksums of every file. Kioku opens in a window of its own (WebView2 on Windows; on Linux WebKitGTK, or a Chromium-based browser's app window with NVIDIA graphics or without WebKitGTK; the default browser as a last resort). To connect AniList, open Services, choose Connect on AniList and approve: nothing else to set up. The first sync is always a preview that changes nothing until you apply it.To play episodes in Kioku's own player, install mpv; or keep the player you have and let Kioku follow it. Everything else Kioku needs comes with it or installs itself.
