    Kioku is a tracker for anime, manga and light novels that runs on your own computer. It is made first for Windows and works on macOS and Linux too. Your library lives in a database on your computer, syncs with AniList, MyAnimeList, AniDB, Kitsu, MangaBaka, Shikimori, Simkl and Bangumi, sends to Trakt, plays your episodes in mpv or follows the player you already use, reads your manga and light novels, and lets you watch together with friends. Kioku speaks English, Slovak and Czech.

    New in 2.24.0

    Calmer on the phone, and Home looks like the rest of Kioku.

    • The library on the phone shows three covers a row and keeps its controls in one row, which folds away while you scroll down and comes back as you scroll up. Grid, list and table are under More, and the quick views are with the filters.
    • Discover and Seasons on the phone keep their choices to two rows, so the titles start higher up.
    • Home and title pages keep the app's own background instead of a tint from the cover, and the next-up card sits on the same surface as everything else.
    • Title pages on the phone have a lower banner, so the buttons are in view at once.

    Download and first start

    Windows 10 and 11 Kioku-2.24.0-windows.zip Unzip it and double-click Kioku.exe. Kioku is not code signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. Kioku adds itself to the Start menu.
    macOS 12 and later Kioku-2.24.0-macos.zip Move Kioku to Applications and open it. It is not notarized, so the first time open System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
    Linux x64 and arm64 Kioku-2.24.0-linux-x64.tar.gz, Kioku-2.24.0-linux-arm64.tar.gz Extract and run ./kioku. Kioku adds itself to the application menu.
    Browser extension Kioku-2.24.0-extension-chromium.zip, Kioku-2.24.0-extension-firefox.zip Chromium-based browsers: unzip, open the extensions page, turn on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. Firefox: about:debugging > This Firefox > Load Temporary Add-on (Developer Edition and Nightly can keep it for good).

    SHA256SUMS lists the checksums of every file. Kioku opens in a window of its own (WebView2 on Windows; on Linux WebKitGTK, or a Chromium-based browser's app window with NVIDIA graphics or without WebKitGTK; the default browser as a last resort). To connect AniList, open Services, choose Connect on AniList and approve: nothing else to set up. The first sync is always a preview that changes nothing until you apply it.

    To play episodes in Kioku's own player, install mpv; or keep the player you have and let Kioku follow it. Everything else Kioku needs comes with it or installs itself.
