Subtitles that take your look and keep up with the picture.
- Blu-ray subtitles (PGS) are drawn over the video instead of into it, so choosing them no longer re-encodes the picture or makes it stutter. With your look over the subtitles' own, they take your text and outline colours, size and height.
- Your subtitle look now replaces styled subtitles fully in mpv as well, colours and italics set inside a line included, and a change shows at once in an episode already playing.
- The audio and subtitle tracks you choose for a show are chosen again on its next episodes, on every device.
- Subtitles inside a file are read once, gently, while the episode starts, and kept, so turning them on or switching tracks is at once and does not read the whole file again while it plays.
- DVD and TV subtitles, which are still drawn into the picture, work again on videos above 1080p.

A watch page, and subtitles your way.
- Episodes play on a watch page inside the app: the title's episodes beside the picture to pick from, with where each stopped, the episode's title and synopsis below, and a wide picture when you want it.
- Go anywhere in the app while an episode plays: it carries on small in a corner, ready to bring back or stop.
- Full screen fills the screen.
- Subtitles: any font installed on your computer or one of the presets, bold and italic, how wide the outline and the shadow are and their colours, a box behind with its own colour and strength, lines on the left, centred or on the right, and their height. mpv takes the same look, also over subtitles that come with their own.

Episodes play inside Kioku's window.
- Episode files now play right in the app instead of a separate mpv window. Kioku converts on the fly with ffmpeg what the window cannot play as it is, on your graphics card when it can.
- The player has a menu to pick the audio and subtitle track by name, your own look for subtitles (size, colour, outline, shadow or box, height and font), speeds from 0.25× to 2× or any you type, volume up to 150%, picture in picture, casting to a TV, saving a frame, skipping openings and endings, the next episode, the sleep timer, and keys for all of it.
- Prefer mpv? Choose it under Settings > Player and files. Its control bar now also lists the tracks by name and has volume and speed, and your subtitle look reaches mpv too.
- Fixed: choosing an episode could open the last one played instead, when mpv was set to remember positions on its own.

More for watching and reading on your own computers.
- Kioku's player has a More menu: a sleep timer (after some minutes or at the end of the episode), a small window that stays on top, a clip of the episode saved to your downloads, and reactions at a moment that friends with a Kioku account see at the same moment later.
- Frames you take in mpv (press S) are kept with the title and shown on its page.
- Preview frames on the seek bar, a question before going on after a number of episodes in a row, and a gentle word when the day's watching passes a limit you set.
- Sharper pictures with Anime4K, downloaded once when you choose a preset (Settings > Player and files).
- Your phone works as a remote for the player on the computer, and episode files play on a TV that takes videos (DLNA), with progress kept.
- An episode stopped on one computer starts at the same minute on your other computers, and the website's title page says where you stopped.
- Reading:
- Light novels read aloud by your system's voices, with the words marked as they go.
- Furigana on or off, Japanese books top to bottom, a reading ruler, and dark pages after a time you choose.
- Highlights and notes saved as Markdown, and a page or chapter a number away (G).
- Comics panel by panel on phones, and text PDFs set again for small screens.
- Home shows today's reading and your streak; Stats shows your usual sitting, and the reader says when you reach it.
- Every volume's cover of a manga or light novel, with the ones you read and own marked, and side stories placed among the main series' volumes.
- Fix a book's series, volume and chapter when its file name says them wrong, and import your Mihon or Tachiyomi backup with the chapters you read.

Notices at the right moment, and more to see in Stats.
- Episode notices can wait until the time you usually start watching, leave out pictures for shows whose covers spoil, and stay quiet for titles you are far behind on. Mark a title as watched live on its page to hear of each episode a few minutes before it airs.
- New notices: when a show takes a week off, a week before a season starts with the titles you planned from it, when a title you dropped gets a new season, and on Friday evening what fits your weekend. Notices wait while an episode plays in Kioku's player.
- Choose which kinds of notices each phone, browser and this computer get (Settings > Notifications).
- With a Kioku account: you hear when a friend starts a title you recommended, and when you and a friend watch the same episode at the same time.
- Calendar feeds of one list or of what a friend watches. Schedule shows a month of your episodes. Home counts down to your next episode.
- Stats:
- This year beside last year by the same date, and your numbers beside your server's members.
- Your month as a page and a picture.
- When in the week you watch and read.
- When each title will be done at your pace, and how long your Planning would take.
- Your scores against the average, where you drop titles, what you rewatched most, and how each season went.

Finding what to watch and read next.
- Discover asks what you feel like: light, cosy, a good cry, tense, scary and more, each a set of genres and tags. With a Kioku account, In the story finds titles by what happens in them, such as time loop or cooking. Pick one of these chooses at random from any search, and results show an anime's whole watching time.
- Explore, a new tab of Discover (and a place you can add to the sidebar):
- starter paths of ten titles in an easy order, for newcomers or a genre;
- your Planning ranked by how well each title fits your scores, saying why;
- series ready to binge;
- every tag with what it means and how many of its titles you have seen;
- award winners by year, kept by your server's moderators.
- From your Kioku server: what your friends rated highest that you have not seen, next season's most planned, and hidden gems of a genre you like. Every pick says why it is there.
- A title's page shows other works by the same director, writer or composer, and for an anime of a manga or novel, the chapter where the anime stops, as members say.
- Home lists paused or dropped titles you were close to finishing. Schedule marks and filters finales. Seasons can group the season by studio. Top charts say how many you have seen. The library's More menu picks a random title from what it shows.
- You hear when a manga or novel you read gets an anime, and when an anime you watched gets a manga or novel (Settings > Notifications > Sequels and adaptations).

- Scores in detail (story, characters, visuals, sound, enjoyment) are kept on your Kioku account and are the same on every computer and on the website. So are the marks on your titles, your ranking, tier lists and best of each year.
- Rank is now a tab in Stats, next to Overview and Calendar. Picking offers only titles you started: completed, dropped, rewatching, watching, reading or paused, never Planning.
- Customize the sidebar can add Notes and Rank, and with a Kioku account Forum, Clubs and Messages. The same places can go in the phone's bottom bar (Settings > Comfort > On the phone).
- Whether covers of adult titles are blurred is now right under Show adult titles in Settings > General.

Tracking, your way.
- Rank: pick the better of two titles until your ranking builds itself, make tier lists and share them as a picture, keep the best of each year, and spread your scores over the whole scale (with the old ones a click away). Open it from Stats or You.
- Episodes can be skipped (recaps and fillers count nowhere, and progress steps over them) or counted again when you rewatch a favourite. On a Kioku server, members mark which episodes are filler, recap or canon, and a title offers to skip the fillers.
- Each title can hold a month to watch it again, why you started it, and a hold until its last episode is out; Home reminds you of both. Webtoons can count episodes instead of chapters.
- Notes show lists, links, bold and spoilers, and all of them gather on a Notes page you can search.
- Paste a list of names from anywhere into the library: each line is looked up and the unsure ones ask which title you meant.
- A title of your own joins the catalog's title once it exists, keeping progress, dates and notes. Missing start and finish dates fill in from when you marked episodes. A title's page lists its own changes with undo, and every title a filter shows can take a tag at once.
- Cards can show the community's average next to your score, progress out of the episodes aired so far, and how many times you watched a title. Franchises can count specials apart. Goals add a season challenge and hours a week.

Fixes.
- Dropdowns are readable in every theme: the title language per kind, what cards show, your own statuses and the others now use Kioku's own dropdown.
- Pages no longer move sideways when a tab or a section makes them shorter or longer, such as a title page's Community tab.

The Kioku server in one paste, keeping itself up to date.
portainer.yamlruns the server and its database from one file in Portainer, Podman Desktop or any compose app: paste it, setKIOKU_URL, deploy. It makes its own passwords, downloads the server for your machine, checks it against the release's checksums, and every night backs up the database before moving to a new release. The server's read-me explains the few settings.- Admins can update such a server with Update now on the admin page, on the website or under You > Admin in the app; the page follows along until the new version answers.
- The Kioku app on a computer now shares its look with the website through your account, when sharing is on.
