2026-10-23 16:42:56 +00:00 | 151 commits to main since this releaseKioku is a tracker for anime, manga, light novels and visual novels that runs on your own computer. It is made first for Windows and works on macOS and Linux too. Your library lives in a database on your computer, syncs with AniList, MyAnimeList, AniDB, Kitsu, MangaBaka, Shikimori, Simkl, Bangumi and VNDB, sends to Trakt, plays your episodes in mpv or follows the player you already use, reads your manga and light novels, and lets you watch together with friends. Kioku speaks English, Slovak and Czech.

- Schedule fades a row once you watched its episode, not once it aired, so what is out and still to watch stands out; planned titles no longer look like the ones you follow, and Only my list stays as you left it.
- The library tags a title from its row (right click, T, or its card on a phone where scores are few), and with few scores the tags take the score's column.
- Selected titles show their tags as chips that say which of them have each: a tap gives a tag to all of them or takes it off, and the chips stay open for the next. Tag every title shown opens the same chips, and saved views sit inside the filters on a computer too.
- Bringing in your AniList history reads past AniList's limit of 5000 activities: run it again to add the rest.
- Sequel news tells only of sequels and of anime of what you read or manga and novels of what you watched, not of a manga's light novel, and not again when the records change source. A finished title's page offers its next season with Add to Planning, the notice offers it too and is read once the sequel is in your library, Home lists the sequels of what you liked most first, and news of what you watch comes before news of what you only plan.
- Favourites stay as you leave them: one removed on your phone or undone at once no longer comes back from AniList, and hearts show an Undo or a change made on another device.

- The settings search finds only what the page shows where you are (the website and your phone see their own notification settings, the computer its own), knows the settings it missed before, and the links from Stats to your AniList history land on it.
- Notification and comfort settings show their names with the explanation one tap away, rather than a paragraph under each.
- Your account's page folds what is seldom needed: sign-in and security, apps and tokens, moving or deleting the account.
- Quiet Home is switched on Home alone, the keyboard shortcuts page leaves phones, and the descriptions of the Data, Library and Reading pages say what is on them.

- Your phone no longer hears of every planned title's first episode from your Kioku server when you turned premieres off in the app.
- The bell marks an episode watched from its notice, and offers Snooze only where it can bring a notice back.
- Search finds new shows sooner: when your Kioku server has nothing yet, AniList is offered first, before adding a title of your own.
- Adding a title on a phone puts your Up next tags on in the same step, and Discover remembers whether you add as Planning or Watching.
- The search in the top bar says where a title of your library stands, adds a found title to Planning with one tap, and opens a pasted link.

- Mark watched on a phone notification from your Kioku server marks the right title again: with your app run by the server, it could raise another title's progress.
- Episode notices on your Kioku account are read once you watch the episode, so the notification list no longer piles up what you are done with; a title's streaming notices read themselves once you finish, drop or remove it.
- Delays follow the switch for episodes on your phone, and a friend starting what you recommended or reaching your episode follows the one for friends.
- A title's page keeps your entry short: status, progress, your tags and dates first, the rest under More (the score too, where you score few titles), and an empty note is one button.
- Notifications show on a title only while it airs or is still to come, the average score shows once, and the notes under Where to watch and the episode diary moved into their headings.

- Home asks less of you: a title you told "Not now" in Gone quiet stays away until it changes, an unset goal can be put away with No goals, and the pair to pick from passes on Can't choose.
- Where you score few titles, Waiting for a score places a finished title among your picks instead of offering a score menu, Stats no longer puts the hundred-scores milestone among the next ones, and You and the average uses what your tags and picks stand for.
- Up next puts the planned titles you can start before those still to come, and its rows no longer offer to add what is already there.
- Home's quiet mode keeps Airing this week, and the explanations under Up next, Gone quiet and Almost finished moved into their headings.
- On a phone the library's quick views show your presets, and pinning a view saves it as a preset you find on every device.
- Taste's offer to count your rating-like lists as scores can be turned down.

- Fewer notices that change nothing: a title is told as come to a streaming service once it stayed half a day, as gone once it stayed away three days, and a title that comes, goes and comes back is told once. Sequels and adaptations are told only while they are new; older ones stay on Home's sequels shelf.
- Going through Planning as cards goes on where you left off on your other devices: the titles you kept are kept with your account.
- Seasons says which title of your library a show follows, its sequels of what you saw come first in the deck, the filters can keep only those, and the deck's title opens its page. A show already out can be started from the deck.
- A list of openings or trailers passes over one that will not play and goes on with the next; when the site with the video does not answer, Kioku says so.
- Best of your Planning in Explore leaves out what is not out yet.
- Stats for those who judge by tags and picks rather than scores: with few scores, Your verdicts shows your finished titles by the lists that stand for a score and by their tier in your picks, Your year and Your month count the titles you loved where a mean of a few scores said nothing, and your picks order the titles of one list.
- Your year comes right after the totals and starts its best with the ones you chose under Rank; the episode log and the year of changes moved to Calendar, the reasons for dropping to Taste.
- On a phone, Rank is in sight in the Stats tabs, and Rank and Taste keep their switches to one row.

- Going through Planning as cards: a title you kept comes back after three months, your Up next tags come first to put a card among what to watch soon with one tap, and the buttons no longer move while the synopsis loads.
- The library filter keeps titles that are airing, finished or not out yet, any of the three.
- A planned title's card says when it is airing or upcoming.
- Holding a planned title on a phone offers Remove, and Home's pick from Planning can remove a title too, both with Undo.
- Home's link to the rest of your Up next tags opens all of them, and those titles follow the order of your tags.
- Filtering the library by two or more tags can keep titles with any of them, not only all of them; the filter's chips then read "or".
- On a phone or tablet, buttons and fields are bigger to tap without asking (Settings, Comfort turns that off for the device alone), and tapping a text field no longer zooms the page in.
- A title's episodes on a phone take one line each: discuss, skip, watch again, mark as and add to queue wait behind the "..." at the row's end, and the tick keeps its size.
- A title from your library shows your entry before the synopsis on a phone, and your tags follow the score.
- On a phone the library hides status tabs without titles, the filters scroll as one with your own tags first, and Home's Up next shows four titles with Show all.
- Rank on a phone starts with the two titles to pick from; the Stats pages have a help button that explains the picks.
- Kioku installed on a phone shows one Back on a title page.
- Titles without a banner picture keep a plain top; choose Cover colour under Appearance for a band in the cover's colour.

- Typing a tag's words takes the tag you have: "masterpiece" is your Masterpiece list even with an emoji before it, in the tag picker, when tagging many titles at once and in "Tag every title shown", so no second tag appears beside it; taking a tag off many titles that way works too.
- The tag picker finds tags without their accents and offers your AniList lists that no title is on yet.
- A list renamed on AniList's website keeps what its tag stood for in Kioku: its score, loved mark, colour and place in Up next.
- Renaming the tag the library is filtered by keeps the filter on it, and deleting a tag no longer turns a saved list of that tag into your whole library.
- Taste offers to count your lists that read like ratings (Masterpiece, Loved, Good) as scores while none is set.
- "Tag every title shown" can be undone, and the button that takes a tag off is easier to tap.
- One refusal from your Kioku account (such as scores in detail) no longer stops your other data, settings and favourites from going.
- In Slovak, tags are štítky everywhere.

- Keeping a large library in step with your Kioku account costs far less: a title removed here but kept on the account no longer makes every change you make download every list again, a sync that fails waits before trying again instead of every half minute, and a sync that finds nothing changed writes nothing.
- Lists and your kept data come down only when they changed, and the server sends them packed, so an unchanged library of a thousand titles no longer costs a megabyte each time.
- Picks go to your account once you pause picking, not after every pick, and waking the computer no longer starts two or three syncs in a row.
- A title with more tags or longer notes than your account holds no longer stops its other changes, such as progress, from reaching the account.
- Home's titles starting later link to the calendar of premieres, which opens on the month of the next one; Your season counts the shows you still watch from seasons before; the season deck works for announced titles too.
- For whoever runs a Kioku server: packed answers need the server updated.

New in 2.129.0
- Seasons from your Kioku server show where each title streams again, so "On my services" works, and the note that AniList did not answer shows only when it did not.
- A season you looked at stays available when neither your Kioku server nor AniList answers.
- The coming season's leftovers leave out shows that end before it starts.
- In the season deck, Trailer opens with a mouse too, a card planned or skipped by mistake can be taken back from the deck, skipped cards stay skipped when the source changes, and Add on a season card has Undo.
- Adding a title from Seasons works during an AniList outage, from your Kioku server.
- Sorting a season by studio counts each studio's whole season, so studios no longer jump as more cards load.
- Past seasons count the titles you added while they were on, not your whole backlog, and say how many are paused or not started.
- The week planner keeps to what you watch and what you plan from the season shown.
- Covers of titles for adults are blurred on season cards, in the deck and in the calendars as you set, and seasons follow a change of that setting at once.
- What your friends plan shows in your title language, and Kioku's mean score reads 7,5 in Slovak and Czech.
- For whoever runs a Kioku server: the streaming services on season cards need the server updated.
